This rehabilitation master plan by Lemay is founded on socially responsible urban development and great architectural quality. Its strategies will revive the site’s maritime spirit from the turn of the 20th century, giving the river back to Montrealers. With water as the unifying element, four docks from the original Port of Montreal will recover their footprints and recall the port’s significance to the city.
The 9.6-hectare site will feature a wide array of residential units and services. Minimizing the area available for automobile circulation will allow the project to include more green space, water features and attractive public places. More than 2,000 residential units are planned in buildings designed for environmental certification; one-quarter will be dedicated to social or affordable housing.
